Death of a hero

I was fairly upset this weekend.

Why, you ask?

Well, for one thing, I finally reached the very last episode of the very last season of Xena: Warrior Princess and they killed her!

After everything that's happened and everything the characters went through, the writers and producers (in their infinite f*cked-up wisdom) decides to kill Xena. How crappy is that??? I haven't felt as sad and crappy as that since I had to watch Buffy jump to her death to save the world and her sister at the end of Season 5! And at least there I knew she would come back. Not sure how, but I knew she would come back. With Xena she was just dead! And I cried.

It hurt, you know?

And then I go on the internet and I'm Googling all the stars of the show to see what happened to them and I had to find out that Kevin Smith (who played Ares in the show) died in 2004. He had an accident while in China and died. He was 38 and left behind a wife and 3 little kids. That really messed me up. I was so sad! He was a great actor and a great guy and he's lost to us.

I'm very sad today.

RIP Kevin Smith and Xena. Maybe angels carry you to your rest.

Random thoughts

It's Friday afternoon and I still have 2 and a half hours to go before I can go home and chill out for the weekend.

Have you ever had that day where no matter how hard you try, you just can't seem to focus on one specific thing and get your brain to follow a straight line? Well, the entire month of August and this first week of September has been like that for me. And it's so tiring!

I look at the work in front of me and I just keep thinking "what's the point?". Of course, then I remember what the point is. It's that pretty paycheck at the end of the month that keeps me in new DVD's.

So I buckle down again for about 5 seconds and then my mind starts wandering again.

Maybe I just need a nice holiday away from everyone and everything. Where's a nice deserted tropical island when you need one!

Ok, so that's that for a random thought. I have others too, but I have to get back to work. *sigh* Oh, the things we do for that all-important paycheck.....
